Our neighborhood has a chance to make a real impact on the health of Long Pond — and we need your help.
The DEC is organizing a Water Chestnut Pull Party on Thursday, July 17th at the Parkway Bridge on Long Pond’s north side. This invasive plant is spreading quickly, and with the recent sightings of harmful algal blooms (HABs), it’s more important than ever to take action.
Details:
- Date: Thursday, July 17th, 9:30 AM
- Location: North side of the Parkway Bridge, Long Pond
- Parking & Kayak Launch: Courtesy of Marland Shores Marina — the gate will be open!
How you can help:
Bring your kayak, canoe, or just your energy and gloves. Let’s work together to remove these invasive plants and support the health of our pond.
“We need participation from ALL. Please share this with friends, neighbors, and community groups to boost turnout.”
— Mike Green, VP, Neighborhood Association
Let’s protect Long Pond — see you on the water!
