Urgent Long Pond “Last Ditch” Pull – July July 18th
Target Area: The new growth area due east of the northernmost point of “The Patch” (spreading toward Long Pond Shores Apartments).
Why it’s urgent: This area must be hand-pulled prior to the drone spraying.
Logistics: Long Pond Shores has generously granted permission to use their launch. You can also dump harvested water chestnuts there for the Town of Greece (TOG) to pick up.
⚠️ August 1st Deadline: August 1st is the hard drop-off date when nutlets begin to fall from the rosettes, spreading the weed further. This is also the final scheduled Town-organized pull event for Long Pond.
🛸 Drone Spraying Schedule (Long Pond)
Drone spraying is officially scheduled to take place between July 20th and July 30th (specific dates will be announced as they are locked in).
The Plan: Spraying will take 2–3 days, covering 30 acres west of the Parkway and 7 acres in Long Pond (including The Patch).
Note: The spraying footprint is locked; the crew cannot spray a larger area than what has been outlined on the project map.
🌊 Safety First: Check for HABs
Before heading out onto the water, please check for HABs (Harmful Algal Blooms).
Do not enter the water if you spot a suspected bloom in the area. Stay safe while helping protect our ponds!
